Outlet tubing. The outlet tubing shall be connected to the lower section of the tower to control the discharge of deionized water. The free end of the outlet tubing shall be exposed through a cutout in the base. The outlet tubing shall be supplied with a shut-off clamp to stop or permit the discharge of the deionized water as required.
Power cord. A 3-conductor cord for the quality check meter shall be supplies with a non-detachable connector plug. The connector plug shall be a 3-blade male plug in accordance with the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Standard C73.11. The issue of (ANSI) C73.11 in effect on the date of solicitation shall be used to determine compliance with stated requirements. The overall exposed length of cord and plug shall not be less than 5-1/2 feet (167 cm).
Power feature. The quality check meter shall operate from 115 volt, 60 hz, AC. power supply lines.
Performance. The inserted ion-exchange resin cartridge, when properly secured in the shelf opening of the tower, shall effect a watertight seal around the shelf cutout. The water demineralize shall operate by filling the upper chamber (i.e. space above shelf opening) of the tower with water to a level above the top of the inserted cartridge so that the water passes through the cartridge into the lower chamber of the tower. The water shall not exceed 105o Fahrenheit (40.5o Centigrade). The water passing through the cartridge shall be deonized by the ion exchange resins. By gravity flow, the deionized water in the lower chamber of the tower shall discharge through the outlet tubing. The quality check meter shall be used to check the salinity of deionized water that has accumulated in the lower chamber of the tower.
Workmanship. The water demineralize shall be free from defects which detract from its appearance or will impair its serviceability.
Unit. Each (EA.) One demineralize, as specified, constitutes one unit.
Quality Assurance Provisions.
Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contact or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements.
Records. Records of examinations and tests performed by or for the contractor shall be maintained by the contractor and made available to the Government upon the Government’s request, at any time, or from time to time, during the performance of the contract and for a period of three years after delivery of the supplies to which such records relate.
